The Great Schools Trust is pleased to announce that Mr. David Crosby, a key member of the trust’s senior staff, has been appointed as Principal Designate of King’s Leadership Academy Bolton. Prior to his appointment, David successfully led a trust-wide team in helping ten students from our academies gain sixth form scholarships, which include board and tuition, at some of the best independent schools in the country – including one young person now studying at Eton College!
David was raised in London and attended the prestigious St Olave’s Grammar School, before studying History at the University of York. After graduating he was employed in the Cabinet Office in Admiralty Arch in London where, despite the attractions of the office, he realised that his future lay in working with young people. He applied to join the Teach First programme in the North West and was trained as a teacher of mathematics.
When asked about his appointment David said, ‘I am honoured to be appointed Founding Principal of the trust’s new academy. I share the Great Schools Trust belief that every child can succeed and that great teaching is the key to this success. As educators, we have a duty to develop a child’s intellectual capital. However, we must also build their social and cultural capital. In doing this, we will create successful citizens who can play an active role in their own and the wider community. At King’s Leadership Academy Bolton, we will have a character driven education with the highest expectations for all’.
David will become full-time Principal Designate at the start of the summer term, but will be visiting Bolton many times before then to meet the parents and students, who have gained places at the academy for next September.
