Back

Earlier this month, seven enthusiastic students from Year 8 and Year 9 at King’s Leadership Academy Bolton had the exciting opportunity to take part in a special football event held at the Toughsheet Stadium, hosted by Bolton Wanderers in the Community.

Organised by Georgina Hails, the event was a celebration of International Women’s Day and aimed to inspire young girls through sport and team spirit. The day kicked off with a lively and competitive 5-a-side football tournament, where the students showcased their skills and teamwork on the pitch.

Following the tournament, the girls were treated to a memorable presentation ceremony. Members of the Bolton Wanderers women’s squad presented each participant with a commemorative t-shirt, marking their involvement in the event and celebrating their enthusiasm for the game.

After a well-deserved lunch, the group embarked on an exciting stadium tour. Highlights included visits to the press room, the press gantry, and the players’ changing rooms. The day ended on a high with an unforgettable moment pitch-side, offering a glimpse into the atmosphere of professional football from right next to the action.

The event was a fantastic way to celebrate the achievements of women in sport and to inspire the next generation of female athletes.
