Information for Visitors

Welcome

Welcome to King's Leadership Academy Bolton.

We hope your visit is enjoyable, informative and safe. To help us maintain a secure and welcoming environment for everyone, please read and follow the guidance below. If you have any questions during your visit, please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to assist you.

Signing In

For the safety and security of our students, staff and visitors:

  • All visitors and contractors must report to Reception on arrival.
  • Please sign in using our electronic visitor management system. A photograph will be taken, and a visitor ID badge will be issued.
  • Your visitor badge and lanyard must be worn and remain clearly visible at all times whilst on the Academy site.
  • Visitors must sign out before leaving and return their visitor badge and lanyard to Reception.

Visitors who will be working unsupervised with students will be required to provide appropriate identification and evidence of a valid enhanced DBS check before access is granted.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

If you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child during your visit, please report them immediately to Reception or a member of the Safeguarding Team.

Visitors must not enter areas of the Academy unless authorised by their host and should remain with their host unless instructed otherwise.

Photography

To protect the privacy and safeguarding of our students and staff, visitors must not take photographs, videos or audio recordings anywhere on the Academy site unless they have received prior permission from the Principal or a designated senior leader.

Fire & Emergency Procedures

Your host will explain the emergency procedures at the start of your visit.

If the fire alarm sounds:

  • Leave the building immediately using the nearest safe exit.
  • Follow the instructions of Academy staff.
  • Proceed to the designated assembly point with your host.
  • Do not stop to collect personal belongings.
  • Do not re-enter the building until authorised to do so.

Emergency evacuation information is also displayed on the reverse of your visitor badge.

First Aid

If you require first aid or begin to feel unwell during your visit, please inform your host or report to Reception immediately. A qualified First Aider will be contacted to provide assistance.

Health & Safety

All visitors and contractors are expected to comply with the Academy's health and safety procedures and any instructions provided by Academy staff.

Contractors must ensure they are familiar with any site-specific safety requirements before commencing work.

By following these procedures, you help us meet our responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

Smoking & Vaping

King's Leadership Academy Bolton operates a smoke-free and vape-free site.

Smoking, vaping and the use of e-cigarettes are not permitted anywhere on Academy premises, including external areas.

Safeguarding Guidance for Visitors to the School

Adults visiting or working on the school site play an important part in the life of the school. You can play a part in keeping students safe whilst working at, or visiting, the school by observing the following guidelines:

  • ​Do not initiate verbal or physical contact with students unless it is appropriate and a part of the agreed reason for your visit.
  • Do not give any personal information to students, such as your mobile number or address. Do not provide students with your personal email address, and only provide your professional work email if it is necessary as part of the reason for your visit.
  • Do not give students details of your personal social network accounts or engage in any communication with students using social networking sites.
  • If you have any concerns that a student may be at risk of harm, report it immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. They can be contacted via Reception.  Do not discuss your concerns with the student, and do not carry out an investigation.
  • If a student makes a disclosure to you, do not promise confidentiality. Explain that you will need to talk to someone else and contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead with your concerns immediately.
